Environmental Defense is organizing an open letter to Minister Chrystia Freeland detailing their concern that the newly proposed hydrogen investment tax credit will be used to subsidize fossil-hydrogen technology.
The following is copied from their email:
As you might know, Finance Canada is now developing a hydrogen investment tax credit, set to be released in Budget 2023. We are deeply concerned that the investment tax credit will be used to subsidize fossil-hydrogen technology – which is incompatible with Canada’s climate commitments – or inadvertently impact the availability of more cost-effective and reliable climate solutions.
We have drafted a letter to Minister Freeland outlining these concerns, in order to bring political and public attention to the issue early in the new year.
Here is the letter. Would you be interested in adding your name? If so, please sign on before February 3rd. You can add your name directly to the google doc as a suggested edit, or in a comment.
