Climate Pub(lics) with Carleton Climate Commons – “Igniting Conversation on the 2023 Wildfires”
Join us and special guests at Irene’s Pub in Ottawa for a night of conversing, sharing, and feeling as we reflect on the forest fires and the subsequent smoke pollution experienced over the summer that affected millions on Turtle Island (North America). At the time, it was too difficult for most of us to discuss how terrifying and destructive these events were. As the snow falls to the ground this winter, we thought now would be a safe time to revisit our emotions, the governance and science surrounding the wildfires. Guided by our guests, we will converse over who protects our forests, indigenous perspectives, how to be prepared for up-coming events, how to protect each other in our local community and process our collective grief and fears through story-telling, poetry, visual art and music.
Whether you’re a climate enthusiast or just curious about the topic, this event is open to all. Share your thoughts, ideas, and questions in a friendly environment. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and learn more about the actions we can take to address climate change. Together, we can make a difference!
Organized by Carleton Climate Commons, Climate PUBlics brings people together in some of Ottawa’s liveliest pubs to discuss climate catastrophe, environmental justice, and our shared future.
