Amara will be entering her 4th year of Health Sciences with a Concentration in Biomedical Sciences with a Minor in Biology. After growing up in Nigeria and seeing different inequalities in the healthcare system, she became passionate about work in healthcare and medicine. This began her journey in addressing inequalities and inequities in healthcare systems in various communities through research and volunteering.
This is her first year in the SDH lab and she will be working on the development of an eHealth evidence database for use by health providers and planners. She will also begin her 4th-year thesis this fall and will be conducting research on evaluating health indicators for rural health systems in Canada. Her goal is to go to graduate school in future and continue research on rural health and health inequities.
Outside of school, Amara enjoys cooking, Netflix binging, long walks, and volunteering at The Ottawa Hospital.
