Jenna Jarvis is a Master’s student in English literature at Carleton University, where she completed a BA in the same subject and, for a time, edited In/Words Magazine. She has lived in Ottawa all her life—yet the city, with all its ungovernmental stirrings, has never allowed her to develop writer’s block. Her favourite sorts of literature include British Romantic novels (her proposed program of study in this field won her a SSHRC award) and postmodern Canadian poetry (she imagines herself in the future as an eccentric writer-critic who is constantly interviewed by subsequent generations of graduate students). Jenna’s poetry has appeared most recently on Phil, S/tick and The Steel Chisel. She is the winner of the 2012 John Newlove Poetry Award and will release a chapbook with Bywords in October 2013.
