Dr. Kratz’s doctoral research examined desertification in the US context as a discourse through which drought and drylands have been and are (mis)understood. Her postdoctoral work at Queen’s engages in a cultural history of the ecosystem concept through the lens of cold war nuclear energy research and the mid-twentieth century environmentalist movement in the US to rethink contemporary approaches to nuclear energy within the context of the climate emergency. Congratulations, Dr. Kratz!
