How has your Carleton English degree informed your professional and/or creative path?

Writing essays for my English degree honed my research skills, teaching me how to use specialized databases, sort through information for relevance, and pull key points for the blog articles I write today. This research experience turned me into a quick learner and has left me feeling confident in my ability to write about new and unfamiliar topics, always broadening my horizons and growing as a writer.

Why Carleton? What specific experiences or opportunities did you benefit from while studying English at Carleton?

The professors in Carleton’s English Department truly made a difference in my university experience. There are several professors I felt inspired by who kept me engaged in every lecture and whose feedback pushed me to want to always improve and look farther than I had on the previous assignment. I’m extremely proud of the work I produced under their tutelage.
