As part of the agri-food systems, healthy and free of contaminants environments play an important role in ensuring the safety and security of the final agri-food products. By utilizing and advancing analytical chemistry tools, we aim to achieve improved identification, detection, quantification and understanding of the presence and effects of persistent and emerging contaminants throughout the agri-food systems – from “farm to fork”.
Projects under this theme will involve investigating types of contaminants, source of contamination, metabolism from “farm to fork”, and their potential impacts on food safety, public health, and the ecosystem. Essentially, it’s about uncovering and depicting the complex issue of environmental pollution within the agriculture and food production sectors.
Our current research focus on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and micro-/nano-plastics
