In 25 years, I hope Canada is more active on the world stage…more inclusive…more environmentally conscious…more tolerant.
These were just a few of the comments shared by Dean’s Honour List recipients in the Faculty of Public Affairs this year. Their statements were one of the highlights of the night as the sizeable crowd in the Richcraft Hall Atrium gathered on January 30th to share congratulations and watch the names of the honoured students—and their comments—on the big screen.
The more than 400 students and guests were joined by Carleton University President Roseanne O’Reilly Runte, Provost Peter Ricketts, and a number of the Faculty of Public Affairs’ 75 for the 75th alumni for the celebration in the Richcraft Hall Atrium.
Kroeger College alumnus Ryan Androsoff, Senior Advisor (Digital Government) for the Treasury Board, spoke about the opportunities that await these students after graduation. While Dean André Plourde praised the hard work and perseverance that brought them there—a theme echoed by many of the parents present.
Here are just a few of the more than 900 receipients:
Patrick Barrios, Economics and Journalism (3rd year)
My secret? Hard work and not much sleep.
Julie Habarurema, Criminology (3rd year)
It’s a lot of work, but I try to incorporate what’s going on in the world into my assignments. It’s more interesting that way.
Charnjot Shokar, Law and Legal Studies (4th year)
I was fueled by a desire to make my parents proud.
Kyla Borden, BPAPM (4th year)
She’s her own person and does it her way. She’s very determined.
Amos Vang, Law and Legal Studies (3rd year)
I’m obsessed with the idea of reaching my full potential.
Robert Gaumond and Stephanie Palaczka BPAPM (1st year)
We both work full-time in the public service, so we formed a study group.
Genevieve Finn-Vickers, Law and Legal Studies (2nd year)
She was committed to coming to university. She puts her heart and soul into it.
Rebecca Gill, Law and Legal Studies (4th year)
Our secret? We like to listen to Disney soundtracks while we study.
