Bagels and Banter is a monthly opportunity to discuss shared research and teaching and learning topics with faculty members in a relaxed setting. Learn about new topics, teaching methods and potential research collaborations.
Bagels and Banter is open to all faculty and staff members and FPA graduate students.
November’s topic “Using Course Assignments to Help the World” is presented by Tracey Lauriault (School of Journalism and Communication) and Jim Davies (Institute of Cognitive Science).
As teachers, we have the opportunity to design student assignments that are more beneficial to us, to our students, and to the greater community. Tracey Lauriault and Jim Davies will speak to their experiences developing creative assignments and working with community partners (including summaries, mnemonics, wikibooks, flashcards, research, field trips and experiential learning opportunities). Come discuss these ideas and more as we think about how we can use course assignments to help the world.
