The Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Public Affairs assists in funding some of the travel costs incurred by faculty members to participate in research-related academic conferences, workshops and seminars, and professional and learned society meetings.

This funding is available for all tenured, tenure track and preliminary term faculty. Instructors, contract, adjunct, and emeritus faculty are not eligible for these funds.

For the purposes of this funding, participation includes presenting a paper, presenting a poster, or participating on a panel or roundtable.

Applications should be submitted well in advance of the planned travel. Retroactive applications will not be considered.

Applicants are eligible for up to $1250 in funds per fiscal year (May 1 until April 30). This may be spread over up to two trips. Preliminary and tenure-track faculty who have not yet received tenure and promotion are eligible for up to $1,500.

Funding is available for conference fee registration (not for association fees), accommodation and transportation costs up to the value of economy class airfare.  Food costs are not covered.

Travel advance requests and travel reimbursements will be administered in accordance with the University’s travel policy.
