Welcome to the Carleton University Classics Society!

If you love anything or everything Greek and Roman, this is the place for you. Everyone is welcome! (We hang around PA 2A36, the Greek and Roman Studies and Religion lounge if you ever want to drop by.)

We are an official student society dedicated to fostering interest in classical studies. This school year (2018-2019) we are planning a number of events, both academic and social, to encourage discussion of all things Greek and Roman. This will also be the ninth year that we will publish Corvus, an undergraduate-level Classics journal.

We encourage all undergraduate students in Greek and Roman Studies, as well as those who are taking Classical Civilizations, or Greek or Latin courses, to join the Society. You will meet lots of other students with similar interests, you will be able to share your ideas freely outside of a classroom setting, and you might even get some help with your Latin homework!

The fee to join the Carleton University Classics Society is $10. This will go toward hosting out-of-town lecturers, hosting various social activities like movie nights and pub nights, and toward the publication of Corvus. There will also be a big launch party for Corvus in the spring which you won’t want to miss!

The easiest way to participate is to join the Classics Society and attend the many events we will be hosting this year. If, however, you would like to get more involved, we have lots of opportunities for volunteering and of course for submitting your best papers to the Corvus Journal. Feel free to get in touch with any of the Society organizers for more details.
