Candace Roberts received the MITACS Research Training Award in Fall of 2020 which has provided her an opportunity to undertake a short-term paid research training internship with Dr. Francine Darroch. This internship has allowed Candace to explore the experiences of service providers and the complex barriers they have faced since the development of COVID-19. Through qualitative research, including semi-structured interviewing, she has been able to gain insight into the perspectives of service providers in the Ottawa community. The information gained through this research project will significantly contribute to the rapidly evolving situation and help service providers moving forward as they navigate delivery of services to some of Ottawa’s most marginalized communities. This has given Candace the opportunity to enhance her subject knowledge of vicarious trauma as a result of COVID-19 and technical research skills through qualitative research interviewing
