The Rideau Canal
The Rideau Canal connects Ottawa to Lake Ontario and the Saint Lawrence River. The canal divides Ottawa’s downtown core and is primarily used for pleasure boating in the summer and skating in the winter.
Rent a Bike
The Rideau Canal is lined by bike paths, making bike riding a popular tourist activity in the summer. VeloGo is Ottawa’s official bike share service. To use a VeloGo bike, download the HOPR Tranist App. The cost of this service is $1 to start a ride and $0.16 per minute. Bike and accessory rentals are also available from RentABike located on the Rideau Canal beneath Rideau St. across from the historic Chateau Laurier.
