Welcome to Latin American and Caribbean Studies!

Welcome to Latin American and Caribbean Studies (also known as LACS) at Carleton University.  As the professor presently serving as the Coordinator of LACS, and on behalf of all the other affiliated faculty members, I would like to offer all our current and incoming students the warmest of welcomes.

The 2020/2021 academic year is going to be both unusual and challenging because of the global pandemic.  Despite these difficult circumstances, please rest assured that LACS is committed to strengthening our intellectual community and providing a vibrant interdisciplinary space for the study of Latin American and Caribbean Studies.

Although it will be difficult to meet in person, please know that we are here to support your academic needs in every way possible.  Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions whatsoever.  You can reach me at audra.diptee@carleton.ca.  The top notch LACS administrator Xiaohan Xu can be reached at LACS@carleton.ca.

I wish you all a successful academic year and, of course, the best of health.  I very much look forward to meeting you in person once the pandemic is behind us.  For now, I encourage you to join the LACS listserve here so that you will get news about LACS events and other announcements.  I cannot emphasise enough that you are more than welcome to reach out by email or to set up a virtual meeting if you feel the need.

Bien Cordialement! Saludos cordiales!
