Participants who wish to withdraw from a series will receive the following reimbursement on their original form of payment.

If you would like to make an extenuating withdrawal request on compassionate grounds, please email the Lifelong Learning Program with your request and provide formal documentation of your circumstances. Exceptions will be granted at the discretion of the Lifelong Learning Program and will be subject to the $15.00 administrative fee.

  • All email refund requests for lecture and workshop series must be submitted to lifelonglearning@carleton.ca
  • *‘Business days’ are Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:30 am – 4:30 pm ET.

REFUND REQUESTS (FOR SINGLE-LECTURE PRESENTATIONS):

Withdrawal requests received more than 10 business days prior to the single-lecture presentation will receive a full refund less the $15.00 administrative fee. No refunds will be accepted within 10 business days of the single-lecture presentation.

Payment

NON-PAYMENT OF COURSE FEES:

A reserved ‘seat’* in any LLeaP offering is only guaranteed once LLeaP has received a participant’s payment in full. If a participant is unable to complete their payment using our secure online payment form and/or link, a LLeaP staff member will contact them to complete their payment by phone or email with a secure customized payment link. Non-payment after 48 hours of receiving this communication will result in the participant’s loss of their reserved ‘seat’* in the LLeaP offering.

  • *‘Seat’ refer to your reservation of a space in the lecture/workshop series (online or in-person).

LLeaP Credit

We are no longer issuing LLeaP credits. Participants with existing credits are permitted to apply them toward the value of any lecture or workshop series by selecting the credit or gift certificate option at checkout.

Cancellation Policy

The Lifelong Learning Program reserves the right to reschedule or cancel its offerings. At the discretion of the Lifelong Learning Program, registered participants will be offered a rescheduled lecture, recorded lecture, or reimbursement for a cancelled lecture due to lecturer illness or a technical problem. Participants who are unable to attend a rescheduled lecture will be offered a refund. Reimbursements will be pro-rated, and no administrative fee will apply in this instance.

The Lifelong Learning Program reserves the right to change its policies at any time. Please ensure that you read the policies before registering for a LLeaP offering.

Codes of Conduct

RESPECTFUL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT:

The Lifelong Learning Program will not tolerate any content that is defamatory, hateful, racist, xenophobic, sexist, vulgar, obscene, threatening, insulting, offensive, and/or abusive.

Participants must agree to the following:

When participating in a Lifelong Learning Program series, I will:

  • respect the privacy of others by refraining from taking photos or screenshots and/or asking for personal information.
  • be respectful of others and understand that disagreement may occur when discussing certain topics. Listening to other people’s comments is part of the learning experience.

Violations of this agreement may result in the removal of the offending participant from the series without reimbursement.

SCENT-FREE POLICY:

The Lifelong Learning Program requests that participants refrain from using perfumes, colognes, and/or other heavily scented products before attending any in-person lecture or workshop series. Scented products may cause allergic or asthmatic reactions that interfere with the health and learning of others.

COVID-19 POLICY:

The Lifelong Learning Program continues to follow Carleton University’s COVID-19 guidelines. As of May 1, 2022, the program cannot require/enforce mask-wearing and cannot check vaccine status or symptoms. To safeguard other participants’ wellbeing, the program strongly encourages mask-wearing, respecting others’ personal space, and staying home if feeling sick. Please note that LLeaP cannot guarantee social distancing for seating arrangements in our lecture/workshop series.

PROPRIETARY INFORMATION POLICY:

  1. The unauthorized access, storage, and distribution of proprietary LLeaP materials, including Zoom links is strictly prohibited.
  2. Participants who withdraw from any online series and receive a refund (in part or in full) agree to delete all proprietary LLeaP materials provided for that series, including but not limited to, weekly Zoom links and passcodes. Failure to abide by these terms may result in one’s restriction from participating in future sessions. Applicable charges for attending unpaid lectures will apply.

Online Offerings Policy

TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT FOR ON-LINE OFFERINGS:

Participants require high-speed internet to participate in LLeaP’s online series.

Participants should install Zoom’s free application for Windows or Mac desktop computers (or tablets with keyboards) for the best experience. Prior to attending an online series, participants should test their ability to use Zoom by downloading the free desktop application and using this test link, https://zoom.us/test.

RECORDINGS:

LLeaP’s offerings are live events; participants should ensure they can attend at the specified times. LLeaP may make and use recordings as a backup in case of technology problems. The program does not currently share recordings, in part out of copyright and intellectual property concerns. LLeaP’s approach may change in the future when a more secure place to store and stream recordings becomes available.

PRIVACY:

Our online series may be recorded. Participants may choose to keep their cameras turned off and change their display names to protect their privacy.

VIRTUAL OFFERING WAIVER:

Participants must agree to the following: “I will be participating remotely in the Lifelong Learning Program and will not be on-site at Carleton University. I will be using my personal computer, phone, and internet at my own expense for the duration of the Lifelong Learning Program offering I am registered in. I understand that it is my responsibility to ensure I have up-to-date antivirus software and other internet security to prevent malicious software that could damage my computer systems or those of the University. If any technical issues arise, such as a cyber-attack or loss of data, the University will not be held liable for any and all costs, expenses, or claims arising from a loss of data or any other software or hardware damage.”

TECHNOLOGY ISSUES WHILE ATTENDING ONLINE SERIES:

Participants should contact LLeaP for assistance if technology problems have barred them from participating in online series despite repeated attempts to solve the problems. If technology problems on LLeaP’s side prevent an online series from running or completing, registered participants will be offered a rescheduled lecture, recorded lecture, or reimbursement for a cancelled lecture. Participants who are unable to attend a rescheduled lecture will be offered a refund. Reimbursements will be pro-rated, and no administrative fee will apply in this instance.
