With a widened mandate and resources to help you become a successful online learner, Carleton’s online learning hub is dedicated to helping all students get the most from their education, no matter where they are located.

For the past decade, Carleton students who wanted to take online courses turned to Carleton University OnLine (CUOL). The department provided a flexible platform, award-winning instructors, and support to students in navigating the online environment. With COVID-19 pushing all education temporarily online, many students have found themselves learning online for the first time.

In an effort to serve and help this much larger cohort, CUOL has evolved into Carleton Online. Our student support centre staff provide resources and expertise to students who are looking to enhance their online learning experience. We are a source of guidance amid these unprecedented times, and understand that not everyone intentionally chose online learning. If it’s not something you have experience with, it might feel like an uncomfortable step outside your comfort zone. Here is how we can support you:

Guidance

Online courses might require slightly different skills than face-to-face classes (e.g. discipline and time management are bigger factors in your success) and might have different software requirements. If you have questions, reach out through email, and we will get back to you Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Resources

Prefer to handle your online transition more independently? Access the comprehensive online learning resource library for help with a variety of study strategies, checklists, technology tools, online hacks and apps, an explanation of “netiquette,” and much more.

Technology
