The article on the media’s portrayal of Islamic peoples in the debut issue of pamorama made me think more deeply on how Islamic people are viewed by some. One of my favourite things about attending Carleton was the diversity in the student body.
I made friends from a variety of nations, many of whom were of the Muslim faith, and so this article was of great interest to me. Consequently, I believe pamorama has met its mission statement with this article.
Another article I enjoyed was the International Criminal Court’s “terrific irony”. Although the article praised the fact that the court was in “full operation”, it did close with a sobering statement that it is a slow and complicated process. Yes, change is slow. I like that the article shows what the ideal is and what the actual truth is.
If pamorama can keep such objectivity along with showing both sides of the coin and not fall into great bias, then you have a good thing!
