Jennifer Copestake was pepper sprayed at the Summit of the Americas in Quebec when she was 17, and she locked herself to the gate of the British High Commission in Ottawa to protest Britain’s involvement in the war on Iraq when she was 19. At 22, she was awarded the 2005 Ruth Hancock Foundation Scholarship for demonstrating strong character and leadership, a willingness to help others and an interest in broadcasting career. The Bachelor of Journalism student hopes to work as a foreign correspondent.
