Miguel LeBlanc, a Master of Social Work student, was presented with the 2005 Young Leaders in Rural Canada Award (leadership category) by the Government of Canada.
He was recognized for bringing New Brunswick youth and adults together on community initiatives against bullying, family violence and youth homelessness.
“Adults and young people don’t necessarily speak the same language, but that doesn’t mean we can’t communicate,” say LeBlanc. “Listen to what youth are saying, and you’ll be amazed by what you hear.”
Originally from the small Acadian community of Scoudouc, New Brunswick, LeBlanc understands the opportunities and challenges that rural life holds for young people.
