The BA honours degree in economics at Carleton is one of the most rigorous and challenging undergraduate economics programs in the world, offering enhanced employment prospects and excellent preparation for graduate school. This fall, the program introduces two new innovative and interdisciplinary concentrations in international political economy and development. Along with the current concentration in financial economics, these concentrations will also be made available to applied honours economics students. Additionally, an applied combined honours program will be introduced.
“These changes are designed to provide additional structure for economics honours students who are interested in international affairs, development or finance,” says Keir Armstrong, associate professor and chair of the Department of Economics as of July 1. “They also enable easy switching from regular honours to applied honours when desired.”
