To All Members of the Carleton Community,
With the start of a new year and a new term, we are approaching the launch of our new Learning Management System (LMS). As we announced in July, Brightspace by D2L will replace cuLearn in May 2021.
The LMS implementation team has been working hard to get Brightspace ready for the Carleton community and has made significant progress in preparation for the switch, including launching the pilot this term.
Campus-wide access to Brightspace and to sandbox courses will be granted on Feb. 16. Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) will also begin offering a range of online training workshops. Brightspace Basics training will run daily from Feb. 16 to 26, with more sessions to be added shortly. We have also developed a Brightspace Support website for instructors which has all sorts of information on using the LMS.

Change can feel overwhelming, but know that TLS is here to help you every step of the way. Extensive training, documentation, consultation and individual support will be available. We will also be launching a call for the Students as Partners Program shortly, which you can use to help prepare your courses in Brightspace.
Over the next month, TLS will visit each department and school to answer any questions you may have around the migration, but in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out by emailing tls@carleton.ca.
We will continue to update you as the migration to the new LMS progresses. We encourage you to visit our Brightspace website for a project timeline and to find specific answers to frequently asked questions.
Sincerely,
