Outgoing Canadian scholars must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in a PhD program at Carleton University
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
During your award period, you should be willing to:
- Participate in community engagement activities in Canada and/or in the SSA partner country
- Conduct research at the SSA partner institution, of which no less than 30% of award time must involve research with a research placement partner (off campus)

A) Pre-departure costs
- Travel-related medical costs
- Visa and Visa-acquisition costs
- Ground transport to airport
B) Travel Expenses
- Ground transport to home airport
- Airfare – Economy Class (return ticket) between international airport in home country and final destination in host country.
- Airport taxes
- Travel insurance during transit
C) In-Country Expenses
- Health Insurance Plan
- Shared Accommodation
- Semi-Monthly Living Allowance
- Research Related-Expenses
