- Our Excellence Journey
- The Excellence, Innovation, and Wellness Standard
- Your Organizational Excellence Support Team
Our excellence journey began in 2019 with Excellence Canada’s Excellence, Innovation and Wellness (EIW) standard. This framework provides a progressive road map for us to continuously strive for organizational excellence.
In June 2019, the Students and Enrolment Division earned Bronze level certification in Excellence, Innovation and Wellness. We are continuing on our journey of continuous improvement by applying for Silver in May 2020.
The Excellence, Innovation and Wellness standard is comprised of four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Bronze Level is about creating a strong foundation and establishing a clear commitment to the principles of excellence, innovation and wellness. Silver Level is defined by advancement and implementation, building on the foundation established at Bronze. Gold Level continues to expand on implementation and is exemplified by a more comprehensive approach to excellence, innovation and wellness with positive results and quantifiable improvements. Finally, Platinum builds on all the preceding levels with a focus on establishing sustainable practices and excellent outcomes over time.
The EIW standard revolves around five key drivers. In this way, Excellence Canada provides not only a definition of what constitutes an ‘excellent’ organization, but a staged ‘road map’ that identifies what we need to have in place before moving onto the next stage. The five drivers are: Planning, Customers, People, Process and Leadership.
These drivers form a formal, comprehensive approach to continuous improvement. To learn more about the Excellence, Innovation and Wellness standard, please visit Excellence Canada’s website.
Suzanne Blanchard is our Excellence Sponsor. With Suzanne’s support, a cross functional EIW Working Group, chaired by Jennifer Brenning, was established to help support us in this endeavour.
We are dedicated to celebrating the success of our team members, which is why the OVPSE – Strategic Initiatives team is sharing a series of stories highlighting staff success from within the division. Discover the staff success stories that demonstrate how our division continuously strives for excellence.
To help raise awareness of opportunities, we have compiled a list of some of the many professional development options available to our team at Carleton. This is not an exhaustive list, but we hope it can serve as a helpful resource to learn about options for continuing on a journey of life-long learning and continual improvement.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Poster Showcase at the February All Staff Breakfasts! We received a few requests to share the materials, so we are publishing a PDF of all the posters that were on display. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about any of the initiatives/projects/services, please consider speaking with your manager about inviting a representative from that team to speak at your next staff meeting. An accessible version of this file is available upon request.
We hope that every member of the division can feel engaged in this process. With this in mind, we have included a feedback form below. If you have questions, comments or feedback about our excellence journey with EIW, please do not hesitate to use this form to share your thoughts.
