Carling Walsh is a Ph.D candidate at Carleton University studying climate trends in eastern North America, with a particular emphasis on extreme weather. Walsh’s research implements various spectral analysis techniques, statistical testing, and geospatial analysis.
Walsh’s current research aims to improve the understanding of climate trends in eastern North America through two main avenues:
1) Assessing trends and periodicity in extreme weather across the region, using this information to attempt to correlate potential driving forces of the trends that are seen.
2) Examining a suite of climate variables for a localized area, performing various statistical tests to assess how and why climate has changed at a local level.
