Carling Walsh is a Research Associate and the current Laboratory Manager of the Patterson Lab. She received her Ph.D. in in Earth Sciences in 2022 (, nominated for a senate medal, read the complete thesis PDF here) and her B.Sc in Environmental Sciences (conc. Earth Sciences) in 2017, both from Carleton University.

Her areas of specialization include time series analysis, climate change, and environmental research. Currently, Walsh’s research covers a broad range of climatic and environmental topics, including climate modelling, paleotempestology, and paleolimnological assessment. She is also a member of the Crawford Lake research group (Team Crawford) focused on Anthropocene research.

Walsh’s roles as Lab Manager/Research Associate include general laboratory upkeep and organization, student mentoring, producing/collaborating on research papers, and completing a variety of odd jobs as needed.
