Over the winter, the CLC board, members and staff gave several talks at local churches and community groups to fundraise, as well as raise awareness about who we are and what we do:

  • “Linger Lunch” –  Rothwell United Church (January 30): Members of the board, staff, and several Co-op members attended a service to speak to the congregation about the Co-op. One member shared her personal story of how the Co-op has helped to change her life. Financial contributions, laundry and office supplies were generously donated by members of the congregation.
  • St. Paul’s United Church (Carp) and  Dunrobin United Church (March 27): Chair of the board Lynne Current, Marg Fallis and CLC Coordinator Marianela Gonzalez gave presentations at these two congregations. Both congregations have taken on a Lent project to collect money and laundry supplies for the Co-op.
  • ‘Morning Break’ community group: Board Member Marg Fallis, CLC Counsellor Laura Masters and Co-op member Nasima Haque gave a presentation to this community group for women. Morning Break is a place for women from various backgrounds to come together to talk, share resources, etc. The presentation resulted in a CED contract for the Co-op.
