The Social Economy Centre recently featured Alterna Savings’ Microfinance program, affiliated with SSHRC CURA “Business Done Differently.” A part of Alterna’s Community Economic Development pillar and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) portfolio, the collaborative Microfinance research under way with 3ci researcher Ted Jackson and Research Assistant Chinyere Amadi draws on the Alterna Savings’ Community Microfinance Program previously conducted by 3ci with the primary goals of increasing the number of businesses owned and/or operated by marginalized individuals in Canada, enhancing cooperation amongst Microfinance borrowers from different industries, and enhancing the business knowledge of members.
