Carleton University was well-represented at a recent international conference on universities and community engagement May 13-15.  At the recent Sixth International Barcelona Conference on Higher Education hosted by the Global University Network on Innovation, Katherine Graham, senior advisor to the president and provost, presented Carleton’s experience and plans on engagement and regional development in Eastern Ontario.  In the same session, Todd Barr, executive director of the Trent Centre for Community-Based Education and a key player in the Carleton-based CFICE project, presented the Centre’s work in Peterborough and Haliburton counties.  In addition, Ted Jackson, public policy professor and principal investigator for CFICE, chaired and facilitated a workshop on institutional structures inside and outside universities for supporting and expanding community engagement.  He also was a member of the committee that developed the conference communiqué issued during the final session.
