Kelly Black is a PhD candidate in Carleton University’s School of Canadian Studies and is a part of the collaborative PhD program with the Institute of Political Economy. His research interests include Settler-Indigenous relations, property, education, and the socio-economic and geographic implications of resource extraction. Kelly has been an active member of the Carleton community, serving as Vice President (2010 to 2012) and President of the Graduate Students’ Association (2012 to 2013). He currently lives on Vancouver Island where he is conducting dissertation research.

For 3ci, Kelly has been working with Dr. Frances Abele, researching the history of competing visions and tensions surrounding the idea of a university in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.
