Shani is a multiple award winning nonprofit management professional professional with 13+ years’ of experience across 3 continents: Europe, Africa, and North America. He recently completed his master’s studies in Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership at Carleton University where he was awarded the Dr Tessa Hebb Fellowship in Social Innovation in connection with a study that investigated how Canadian Credit Unions leverage the Community Foundation corporate structure to enhance social impact. He also co-authored a book chapter with Dr Hebb that looks back on ‘Ten Years of Philanthrocapitalism in Canada’ which is currently under review.

Shani also holds an MSc in Corporate Communications & Public Affairs from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland, and is currently leading the limited life foundations stream of a multi-year Justice Philanthropy project under the direction of Prof Susan Phillips of the School of Public Policy at Carleton University.
