The Accessibility Institute, in collaboration with the Inclusive Design Research Centre at OCAD University, is proud to announce the completion of a research project aimed at examining the accessibility of digital tools and systems used in the workplace.

The initiative titled “Future of Work: Equitable Digital Systems”, aimed to ensure that current and emerging technologies, as well as associated practices, are enabling work for individuals with disabilities.

This project is a response to the passive and indirect risk of current emerging technology systems to persons with disabilities because they are not designed with people with disabilities in mind. This lack of accessibility prevents the participation of people with disabilities in the many activities the technologies are intended to enable, including employment.

Through multiple sessions co-designed with and for those with lived experience, the project produced a series of recommendations and considerations regarding the use of information and communication technologies that contribute to creating more inclusive workplaces.
