To lead Carleton’s commitment toward a fully accessible and inclusive campus, Carleton’s Strategic Integrated Plan recommended creation of a Coordinated Accessibility Strategy. As a result, Carleton put an accessibility lens on all areas of campus activity ― building, renovations, research, pedagogical development, student services and information technology ― for students and staff with visible and non-visible disabilities.
The Steering Committee for the Coordinated Accessibility Strategy identified seven broad themes to help create an outline and proposed next steps for Carleton’s accessibility future. Those general themes also chart the university’s past and present efforts, based on a long-standing history of overcoming challenges to inclusion and accessibility.
Consultation on the draft Coordinated Accessibility Strategy will take place in Fall 2019.
