The Indigenous Ethical Research Learning Series (IERLS) at the Ānako Indigenous Research Institute, Carleton University

Our Indigenous Ethical Research Learning Series (IERLS) is designed to support researchers interested in conducting ethical research with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. This series aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of ethical research practices, emphasizing cultural sensitivity, community collaboration, and holistic approaches.

Overview of the IERLS

The IERLS is a week-long summer institute held annually at Carleton University. It features interactive workshops, case studies, and small group sessions led by Carleton faculty, research ethics professionals, and community-based researchers. Participants gain hands-on experience by working through common scenarios and presenting their approaches to a mock Research Ethics Board for feedback.
