With a passion for both renewable energy and environmental protection, Ian hopes to be part of the move towards deep decarbonization and net-zero emissions. He graduated from Carleton University with his MASc in Mechanical Engineering in November 2022, where his research in the APEX group focused on a multi-scale investigation of the cost and performance of hydrogen transition pathways in Canada. One investigated a range of deployment scenarios that employ offshore wind and electrolysis to supplant liquid and gaseous fuels in the Maritimes. The other centered on optimizing the buildout of wind power and electrolysis to meet the electrical and thermal loads of remote northern communities in Canada. His research employed applied data analysis and optimization. Ian is now developing databases and models of CO2 separation processes.
