Joel “Chidi” Smith (Post-Doc, he/him) proudly hails from the Ottawa area. After completing undergraduate degrees in both Life Sciences and Chemistry at Queen’s University (Kingston, ON), he joined the Piers group (University of Calgary) where completed his PhD on mechanisms in small molecule activation using iridium PCP pincer complexes.
Following a short stint at Trent University as an Instructor and Instrumentation Technician, he joined the #BarryLab, where he is currently working on deploying our gem-diaminesilane (gDAS) ligand metals in the middle of the d-block.
