Dr. Basu gave a keynote speech and an invited talk at ICCSTE’16 – the 2nd international conference on civil, structural and transportation engineering held in Ottawa from May 5-6, 2016. Dr. Basu discussed Global Water Issues for her keynote speech – covering the lead crisis in Flint, Michigan, climate change impacts resulting in farmer suicides in India, virtual water and agriculture, and issues with tailing pond collapses.
