The Basu Research Group is very pleased to announce that TWO of our research members are recipients of the 2018-2019 Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS). The OGS Program provides funding to graduate students and is a merit-based scholarship worth $15,000/year.

Robbie Venis is a Ph.D. student researching ceramic filter pots in low and middle income countries. This project has a particular focus working with a company in Arusha, Tanzania that produces the ceramic filters pots as well as working with a local NGO in Longido, Tanzania on water education and health.

Stephane Venne is a MASC student (cosupervised by Dr. Basu at Carleton and Dr. Barbeau at the Polytechnic in Montreal). Stephane’s research will examine challenges and methods of cleaning ceramic membrane systems exposed to algae blooms that may enter water treatment plants due to Climate Change impacts in Canadian water systems.
