Banner Document Management will be getting an upgrade in Nov 2019. This upgrade will move us to BDM 8.7.1.6 and AppXtender 16.3. These are important milestones as it will prepare BDM for the move to Banner 9 and it moves us to the version of AppXtender that no longer has any reliance on Internet Explorer and Windows for full functionality.
The Provost Office is moving forward with electronic document management for Faculty processes and files at a steady rate. After the release of the CI Contract and Faculty Recruitment & Appointment systems, both of which have made great use of BDM, they are now ready to start their 3rd initiative that will use BDM for the storage of electronic documents. BDM is continuing to prove its value to the University in moving processes away from a reliance on paper and time and toward 24×7 access and availability at one’s finger tips.
The Registrars Office and Undergrad Admissions Office are now live with electronic document management in BDM. Both offices will be moving forward with transitioning student file processing from a paper based filing and processing method to a fully electronic method. This latest implementation sees these two student offices join FGPA in BDM, thereby creating a system across all three that will see student file management and processing move from paper to electronic formats.
The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs is now using BDM to store, track and manage all grad student documentation relating to in program progress and processes. This advancement in day to day document management processing will combine with the management of graduate admissions supporting documents to create a complete electronic grad student file for all grad students entering Carleton for the Fall 2013 term and beyond. FGPA is now positioned to become paperless in the management of grad student files.
CCS and staff from the Undergrad Admissions Office and Registrars Office are currently developing and planning to have student file documents stored and managed electronically in BDM. Undergrad Admissions will start digitizing undergrad admission files for the Fall 2014 admission cycle with the Registrars Office beginning to phase in their student file processes over that time frame and into the future so as to transition from a paper student file to a fully electronic student file.
