Overview
The Trebek Initiative funds storytellers, educators, conservationists and researchers whose projects aim to preserve Canadian and Indigenous land, wildlife, water, culture and history. The types of projects we champion are: exploration of unique ecozones in Canada, scientific research on Canadian wildlife, wilderness or water, a photography exposition on unique Canadian geographies and communities, or new tools to create a better understanding of our environment.
Applicants requesting less than $25K CAD, should select the Level 1 Preapplication. Successful Level 1 pre-applicants will be invited to submit a full application (details TBD).
Potential applicants are encouraged to meet early with the program officer to discuss project fit. Meetings can be scheduled HERE.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications must be for one of five categories: (1) research, (2) storytelling, (3) conservation, (4) innovation, and (5) education, and must overlap with at least one of the focus areas: (1) land (2) wildlife (3) water (4) culture (5) history. Project start dates must be at least six months after the submission deadline. Canadian residency is preferred but not required. Projects must be located in Canada. Applicants may submit a proposal as the project leader for only one project at a time.
