Funding Value and Duration
The Lab to Market initiative provides stable, long-term funding for all disciplines within the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities, and health. Lab to Market grant funding will support networks where participants will be encouraged to foster and build an entrepreneurial ecosystem that elevates innovation and contributes to the economic and societal impact of Canadian research. These grants will provide support ranging from $1 million to $10 million per year for a period of up to five years, with a possibility of renewal.
Overview
This initiative is designed to equip researchers and highly qualified personnel with essential tools, resources and knowledge to transform their academic research into innovations ready for market.
Lab to Market grants support Canadian post-secondary institutions and their affiliated institutions in creating and sustaining networks across Canada dedicated to the development and delivery of entrepreneurial skills training. These networks will offer a comprehensive mix of training, mentorship, hands-on experience and collaboration with organizations that can contribute to the development and implementation of entrepreneurial skills training programs.
Eligibility Criteria
Networks of eligible Canadian post-secondary institutions may apply. Institutions must meet the eligibility requirements of any of the three federal granting agencies — NSERC, CIHR or SSHRC. The network must choose an eligible lead institution that will function as the applicant. Other institutions and affiliated organizations will be considered co-applicants.
