CORIS, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-President (Research and International) and the Faculty Decanal Offices, manages start-up funding in accordance with the Externally Sponsored and Internally Restricted Research Fund policy available on the University Secretariat’s University Policies page. Start-up funding is deposited into an account that becomes your Internally Restricted Research Fund (IRR).

Amount: At the outset will corresponds to that which is indicated in your employment agreement. (The amount will change over time in accordance with additional research funding you may receive which does not require specific financial reporting, such as indirect costs from research agreements and awards.

Access Begins after you take up your position and ends upon termination of employment or retirement without properly approved affiliation to the University that enables you to hold external research funding, such as the rank of Emeritus Professor, Distinguished Professor or Adjunct Research Professor.

Step 1: Faculty Decanal Office issues funding memo

Step 2: Office of the Vice-President (Research and International) issues funding memo (Note: If the hiring is conditional upon the completion of a PhD, memos are only issued once the requirement is satisfied.)
