2) Upcoming Call For Proposals (Oct 1) – Academics Without Borders in Partnership with Mastercard Foundation
Mastercard Foundation recently entered into a partnership with Academics Without Borders (AWB) that will provide substantial additional funding to build capacity and strengthen the quality of educational programs at universities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
This support from Mastercard Foundation greatly enhances the potential reach and scale of AWB’s activity. Our partnership reflects a shared commitment to work with institutions in low- and medium-income countries to enable young people in Sub-Saharan Africa to acquire the relevant, high-quality post-secondary programs that they need to succeed and contribute as leaders to the prosperity, health, well-being and stability of their communities.
Our expert volunteers work without remuneration and AWB covers the large majority of travel and other project costs. Host universities are asked to contribute to cover expenses such as local transportation, meals or accommodations. The partnership with Mastercard Foundation will involve a substantial increase in the number of projects AWB will be able to mount.
Typically, AWB projects are suggested directly by African universities so as to reflect the most pressing needs of the universities and their communities. However, as a member of AWB’s Network of postsecondary institutions, you are able to bring forward projects in collaboration with institutions in the low-and medium-income countries with whom you may have existing contact.
Please consider proposing projects in response to the upcoming AWB call for project proposals to be released on October 1.
Please contact Corrie Young (cyoung@awb-usf.org), AWB’s Associate Executive Director – Projects & Network, for any questions you may have.
