Purpose: Provide seed funding for individuals or teams of researchers for original and innovative, time-sensitive research to propose solutions to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, or to apply to external research grant competitions targeting the COVID-19 pandemic. The research should have the potential to contribute to the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic, or to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and/or its negative consequences on people and communities.

Deadline: Continuous in-take and assessment until May 15, 2020

Value: $10,000 – $25,000

Duration: One year, with mid-term update with preliminary results in 6 months

Decision: 5-8 working days after submission.
*Note that decisions are final. Re-submissions are not permitted unless requested by the committee.

Eligibility: All full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members (Assistant, Associate, Full) at Carleton are eligible to apply. Only one application is permitted per Principal Investigator. The research work has to address COVID-19 challenges and be able to initiate the work immediately. The project should not have secured funding for the proposed research. Matching funds from industry, non-profits, or other partners, while not necessary, are welcome.
