As Ontario starts to slowly and progressively reopen, we have to carefully consider what this means for Carleton. Our plan to slowly reopen the campus in phased stages – once government regulations allow and it is safe to do so – will place the health and well-being of our community above all other considerations. It is prudent that we start to prepare our offices and units for a slow and staggered return to campus once reopening is permitted by the Province.

The health and safety of the members of the Carleton community is non-negotiable and will always be our top priority. The Environmental Health and Safety Office is working in partnership with the Emergency Management, Health and Counselling Services, and Risk Management and Insurance to ensure that we have a plan where we welcome faculty, staff and students back to campus in a manner that ensures personal health and safety.

Employees may also want to consult the Government of Ontario COVID-19 and Workplace Health and Safety website.

Please note: the Environmental Health and Safety Office continues to provide critical services as required to the university community. In accordance with the university’s emergency preparedness plans, most of our team are working remotely, but we strive to have one member on campus during regular working hours. If you have questions or concerns, please contact EHS at ehs@carleton.ca.

Before returning to work on campus, all employees must complete the COVID-19: Infection Prevention and Control Training. This online training course will provide general information regarding the health and safety practices and considerations required for working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic.
