Canada’s First National Housing Strategy

On May 31 2018, the Centre for Studies on Poverty and Social Citizenship (CSPSC), in Collaboration with Canada Without Poverty (CWP), and with support from CASWE’s Social Policy and Advocacy Committee, hosted a panel discussion focusing on Canada’s National Housing Strategy at the CASWE National Conference.

In November 2017, the federal government released A Place to Call Home, Canada’s first ever National Housing Strategy (NHS). This session maps out many of the key elements of the NHS including its human rights-based approach, and examines many of its strengths and weaknesses in responding to the needs of Canada’s most vulnerable populations.

Moderated by Harriett Mclachlan (CWP) and featuring panelists Kesha Mukobelwa ( A Way Home Canada), Pamela Reimer (Housing First Initiatives Regina) and Jeff Morrison (Canadian Housing Renewal Association)
