About the Panel
On May 31 2018, the Centre for Studies on Poverty and Social Citizenship (CSPSC), in Collaboration with Canada Without Poverty (CWP), and with support from CASWE’s Social Policy and Advocacy Committee, hosted a panel discussion focusing on Canada’s National Housing Strategy at the CASWE National Conference.
A Place to Call Home, Canada’s first ever National Housing Strategy has been a long time in the making, representing decades of work by housing advocates. This discussion focuses on this historical piece of policy, and examines its its real capacity to reduce poverty and homelessness in Canada.
Panelists focus on the most recent developments in housing and address issues pertaining to vulnerable populations including youth, seniors, Indigenous people, Canada’s homeless and those living under the criminal justice system.
