TIM Lecture: Huge Memory & Collection Oriented Programming – Less Code More Speed?

Event Details:

In the 2017 – 2018 time frame we will have computers with 10 or more terabytes of non-volatile memory! This major hardware disruption will enable massive personal device storage and server racks with Petabytes. In this talk we discuss the disruptive impact of the new non-volatile memory technology. What are the potential benefits of huge memory? What constraints does it remove? what constraints will it add? Will we have databases or file systems as we know them today? How do software architectures change in the huge memory world? How can it improve software development and accelerate execution? What are the programming models likely to dominate the next decade?
