Holly is a Research Associate in the Energy and Emissions Laboratory at Carleton University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ottawa, where her project focused on the removal of volatile organic compounds from the air using nano-structured catalysts and the application of the phenomenon of electrochemical promotion. Holly also has experience in several different research projects, all having aspects of environmental concern, ranging from environmentally friendly coatings for parts for next generation nuclear reactors to using non-toxic chemicals to electroplate coins. Currently, Holly is working on a project to quantify methane emissions from liquid storage tanks through the development of novel laser spectroscopic-based techniques. Her research also involves the analysis of methane emissions in the upstream oil and gas industry and the associated provincial and federal regulations.
