We are excited to announce that the 12th eSim Building Simulation Conference will be on June 22-23, 2022 at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada – organized as a joint effort between Carleton University, National Research Council Canada, and Natural Resources Canada. The theme of eSim 2022 Ottawa is: “Simulating Buildings for the New Normal.” The focus will be on using building performance simulation to model and research indoor air quality and other strategies to mitigate risks related to transmission of infectious disease. Given the global events of the past year the significance and rationale for this theme is self-evident. Also of interest are studies examining the impacts of post-pandemic changes in building occupancy, operation, and design practices on building performance metrics, such as energy conservation and GHG emissions reductions.

eSim Conferences has been the flagship event of IBPSA Canada since 2001. They have been bringing together the building performance professionals both in Canada and internationally. The delegates represent a diverse group of academics, government researchers, and industry professionals. The paper topics are equally diverse and range from renewable energy systems, occupant behaviour, daylight, and HVAC modelling, to code, practice, and policy issues. The conference consists of two days with typically over 75 peer-reviewed paper presentations and 200 delegates, as well as two days of theory and software workshops, a technical tour, a reception, and a banquet.
