What is it?
Activity Codes are the fifth element of the FOAPAL and their use is optional. They can be used by departments to provide further detail/ breakdown for transactions in a Fund or as a method to group transactions over a range of Funds.
Why is it important?
Activity codes are used to track expenses which are related to one another for a particular purpose (e.g. conference, lecture, workshop) but might already be categorized by different account codes. You can use activity codes to group like expenses while charging expenses to the appropriate account code.
