What is it?

An Evaluation is an important part of the open Competitive Procurement (RFx) process where the internal evaluation team reviews all proposals submitted to their RFx, according to the criteria determined when drafting the RFx documents. Criteria may include adherence to technical requirements, qualifications, experience, schedule, etc.

The evaluation team will include subject matter experts who are Carleton staff or faculty. You may also choose to identify additional internal or external contacts to act in an advisory capacity who provide recommendations but will not evaluate proposals. Pricing Evaluation is only included once the evaluation team has completed their required step(s).

Why is it important?

Clearly defining Evaluation criteria, appointing an evaluation team, and conducting the Evaluation based on the Evaluation criteria are all key steps in the open Competitive Procurement process. It is very important to ensure your evaluation team understands the requirements of their role and are able to invest the required amount of time in the process.
